Watching the film The Northman , we realize that director Robert Eggers did everything to ensure that we see Nicole Kidman’s face as little as possible and as less clearly.
The actress has long abused injections (and other retouching) to appear younger and her face is now frozen.
To avoid having to show it too clearly, Robert Eggers used every possible trick. But if you pay attention, it’s quite obvious.
Nicole Kidman, who is nevertheless the best known of the entire cast, is systematically shown from afar, or in the background, or blurred, or in the dark, or in profile.
Having a talented and renowned actress whose face we can’t put forward is still annoying.
With the exception of the first scene of the film where she appears very briefly from the front, dimly lit (very elaborate shot), the actress’s face will be in the background or partially visible throughout the rest of the film.
