Nathan Shipley, a San Francisco-based graphic artist, is using AI to speculate what characters depicted in paintings might look like., famous cartoons and even figures on banknotes when converted into real people.
1. Mister Incredible
Interviewed by the website Bored Panda , Shipley explained that he started doing this work because he likes to create impossible images and explore new technologies.. With experience in animation and visual effects, the artist says he realized the countless possibilities that AI currently offers.
3. Miles Morales, Spider-Man of the Spider-Verse
For the artist, every adjustment to the dataset, the model, the input images, or even the training parameters can change the output, the final result. Artificial neural networks read the world in the same way that our minds do.
4. Mona Lisa
This does not mean, explains Shipley, that the image of the Mona Lisa created by AI is exactly like the model that inspired the painting, but rather the way the machine sees it from that particular arrangement of variables.
5. Elastigirl, from The Incredibles
6. Benjamin Franklin, $100 Bill
Nathan confesses that the realistic images take only a few minutes to create, but recognizes that, to get to that point, he went through a long apprenticeship.
7. Frida Kahlo
8. Diego Rivera
9. George Washington, $1 Bill
